Youth & Children's Ministry Leader Job Description

HOURS

15-20 hours/week Salary: based on experience

 

WHO WE ARE

A rural, family-oriented, community church. Attendance of 20-25 children/youth. We have more children than youth, pointing to the growth of the youth ministry over time.

 

JOB SUMMARY 

He/she will shepherd and oversee 7-12th grade Youth Group and K-6 Children’s Ministry

QUALIFICATIONS

● A clear testimony of faith in Jesus

● Consistent spiritual and moral character and lifestyle

● Agreement with Up River’s Statements of Faith

● Associates in bible studies n(or working towards) or equivalent experience in youth/student ministries

● Must pass a background check

● A strong desire– “a calling” to serve God in the position

● Sensitive to the needs and pressures of teens and young adults, with knowledge of possible solutions

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

● Consistently teach the Bible to students with purpose

● Sustain and develop a comprehensive growth strategy for biblical knowledge and discipleship that focuses on High and Middle school students

● Attendance at worship services and church events

● Facilitate and organize children’s ministry (prek-5th grade)

● Plan and execute youth worship Sundays

● Lead youth group outside of Sunday school and worship meetings

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

● Plan and execute youth retreats and camps

● Represent the Church to the community

● Build relationships with students in the community/schools.

● Purse ongoing personal, spiritual, and professional growth through times of retreat, accountability, networking, conferences, and seminars that are related to the ministry.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY

● Visitation of children/youth and their families as needs arise

● First and foremost, accountable to God

● Communicate regularly to Ministry & Counsel with primary oversight by the Pastor
